CREATIVE FOUNDER

THE JESWADE ATELIER:

In 2009, after the birth of her second daughter and 15 years designing in the fashion industry, Jessica launched a start-up in the heart of NYC. Wanting to organically re-think fashion industry practices, she used design to drive business strategy. The JesWade Atelier developed a parallel innovation process that combined technical craftsmanship with iterative design methods, and both were continually supported by high-touch client engagement and feedback.

Within 24 months, client acquisition and product development had tripled revenues and the B2C business model and brand was awarded by a jury of C-suite fashion executives, led by the President of LVMH USA, in the Design Entrepreneur NYC program competition.

The small but mighty team vertically integrated product development, production, and sales while engaging all stakeholders (vendors, customers, employees, investors) to support growth. Made In NYC certified manufacturing focused on in-house production, local vendors, energy efficiency, minimal packaging and zero waste. Employee well-being was supported with beautifully designed work spaces, full benefits, continuing education, and morning yoga.

The luxury Gold collection combined old world craftsmanship and glamour with a casual approach to luxury — couture laces bias cut into pull over the head tank tops. The knitwear Silver collection reflected on the energy savings in mass production — purchasing t-shirt blanks and re-engineering them in the Atelier.

The Atelier introduced clients to experiential retail environments that popped-up in private homes, art galleries and stores across the United States. The women who were part of the JesWade Atelier, when its doors were open from 2009 through 2016, continue to wear the timeless styles as they celebrate life around the world.
